Cheat Engine

Ok, this probably doesnt go in this forum ,but since I'm new, i decided that i would post here. So if i am using CE and I go to change the amount of money (yes this is a money hack, but not just for this, just one of the many examples this could be used for) and it shows up on the screen as the value i set it as. After using one of the Money, the old amount comes back. So is the money based server side and what I'm changing is only on the client side? Or is there a way around it. Any help is appreciated, seeing as i just started using CE as of two days ago. Thank you for your time and hope that somebody can help.

That probably means you're trying ce on a online game.
They usually store those values on their own server and just tell you the values, instead of letting you decide

That is true, and so the fact that they store server side keeps you from changing the value? I've used it on different things besides money, such as experience on skills, and as soon as i change it, and use it, it goes back to normal. I'm not sure if at my level of understanding of CE i can do anything, but if I am missing something simple, I'm open for suggestions =)

you need to find something that is controllable from your side and exploit that. E.g perhaps your location can be changed, or you can decide how much damage you do, or how fast you can walk

ok, but those are things i cant mess with? The money and skills and etc. that are stored Server side? If so, i can accept defeat, and work on something for sure..If it's that im too inexperienced at CE to be able to do it, then i know what i have to work for, lol. Just is it extremely hard, or I dont have the knowledge to do it as a starting CE'er. Anyways, ty for your help, and I will sure try to figure out something i can mess with to keep me entertained. The best way to change server side values(most of the time) is packet editing, although that is off limits on this forum because it can be illegal.

Not only would it be illegal, I;m getting the idea might require a littlemore knowledge about how all of this works than I have at the moment, lol. So I'll stick with things i can manipulate i guess. Thanks to both of you guys and I guess I'll just practice things i can handle, lol.

Man, if its server side, you can do nothing with it..you don't seem to understand that. The server sends you a packet with info, and your game displays it..thats all. Thus, you can find an address in memory that contains and allows you to change that particular value. It is merely for displaying in your game. If you want to use CE to hack online games..try some types of Flash browser MMORPG's...since its flash...a lot of times really helpful things are stored locally. I play one called Sherwood Dungeon with a friend. In a matter of a minute I hacked my gold and health potion amounts. I'm still looking for new hacks, as there obviously are some, but this is a good example. As for REAL online games like say WoW or SilkRoad, CE can only be used for things in the game stored locally...menaing in your PC's memory.
