|
|
| Alright, i know the difference between server and client side, Client side stores Data on your comp which let's you change it and server side stores the data on a different computer. But what i want to know is, What's the REAL difference? I've noticed some multiplayer games are server-sided, and some are client sided, and some single player games are server sided, and some are client-sided, so what's the real meaning behind that? i mean, what does it truely mean for something to be server-sided, and how does all of that work?

Wow you are all confused up lol.
Ok look all single player games are client side. The memory for them is local, On your pc.
=================================================
Now a MMO game, It only has client side on your end. If the memory controlling something on your side is editable you can change it.
Now the server side of the MMO holds almost anything, Gold,health,Items...
Lots more. So to hack those things it is getting less and less possible because it is stored on a remote machine.
So on this type of game your client is passing packets to the server saying like you picked up gold or lost life and blah blah, or an event has occurred and packet is sent, then the server processes the packet and sends one back saying you lost life.
