Hi boys 'n girls!

I hope you understand me...my english ist not the best ^^

(the game is as named in topic/subject Spellforce 2)
Ok...here's my problem:
I do a 4 bytes search for the value of stone,
i find some addresses,
i change the value in game,
i search again for the new value,
i find one address,
i change the value for eg. 90000 with cheatengine,
in game the value has changed to 90000,
but if i walk through one of these portals into another world/level or restart the game, the address is no more actual, so i have to do the search again

no you could say: hey! why don't ya search for pointers? well my answer is: i did! but no pointer was ever found!
i don't understand assembler and i even don't understand why pointers are used til today.

With Spellforce 1 everything went well with those pointers aso.

The only thing i know is, that the addresses of silver, stone and lenya are changed every levelchange or restart (or even load) but i don't know how to figure out the way...

please help me

of course i'm a newbie in cheating! (as you can see @ my rank:How do I cheat?) i use ct only til 2 years and i'm not very good at exploring undocumented functions (since i read the aimhelper tutorial i know how to use the directxmess window..more or less ^^)
But til now i always went (is that right?) fine with this technic...

Uhm...cheat table?
I thought the *.ct-files were cheat tables...
But i think i know, what you mean...is it such a thing, where all possible addresses of a value (ingame) are stored in?
Well if it is so...i'm not sure how to use such a cheat table
If i misunderstood you, please explain what you mean.

Thank you

I was thinking, instead of using the pointer finder thing (which i assume you are since you said it cant find one):

Right click on the address in question.
Click "Find what accesses this address".
Go in game and make the value change.
Go back to CE and double click one of the lines that has appeared.
You will get a "The most likely pointer is: XXXXXXXX".
Try to use this as a pointer. (Search for it 4 byte with hex ticked, i sugest using the weeklycompile for this, or a custom compile, as the 5.2 version has weird probs with the hex checkbox)
If that does not work as the pointer, look in the registers (EAX, EBX, etc...) for a similar address to the XXXXXXXX found above and use that as a pointer.

I have had success with this method about 90% of the time.... some games have protection against this type of thing... and some have pointers TO pointers.... so if your pointer is changing, you may have a problem there too.

Good luck!

Why do you think that everyone on this forum is a boy or a girl? I have to say, there are quite a few transexuals here.
Hahaha I can't say I have heard this before, but I can't say its not true either.

Thx for helping me...
but even with this method there's no pointer...nothing seems to access this damn values

Would you explain "look in the registers (EAX, EBX, etc...) for a similar address to the XXXXXXXX found above and use that as a pointer. " a little bit more, plz? You know...i'm a n00b
