Hello,
This is about FF7 but this has happened to me in other games. The other night I was frustrated with the piano mini game. So I cracked open cheatengine and was able to modify the number of Great notes to get myself into A rank territory.
I tried it again today with a harder song, but all of a sudden the changes didn't stick. I was able to narrow the number down to 2 and changed them but then the actual number in the game didn't change. Later, I was trying to change my score in Queens Blood and it would visually change but then switch back before it calculated whether or not I won.
Although this is a question about this game, in general, what is this behavior? Do I need to restart my computer? Why would it work in one gaming session but not the next?
The changes didn't stick because you found a value that's only used for UI purposes. If the game requires an internet connection, give up; otherwise, try different types or unknown initial value + changed/unchanged scans.
I don't know why it worked the first time. Maybe you scanned for a different type of value, maybe one of the next scans filtered out the correct value, or maybe the game is moving memory around and you got lucky. _________________
I don't know where I'm going, but I'll figure it out when I get there.
