Cheat Engine

Hello! Long story short I've bought Age of empires 2 definitive edition on steam for awhile now and just started playing.

While trying to use Cheat Engine for it, doesn't seem to work. I have the right value and address etc on it but it won't modify when I try to change it? I've also tried others CE files for it too but to no avail. Is it because it has a better anti-cheat? Updated game version? Or why won't the values change in game when I change them on CE?

If you change a value and it doesn't affect what you think it should in-game, you didn't find the right value.

If you're trying to cheat in multiplayer games, give up.

I'm sure it is the right Value but I feel there's some sort of anti cheat that isn't forcing the value to change to what I want it to. When decreasing/adding, it's the exact same value as in game.

No I'm not trying to in multiplayer, that's just low )=
Just trying to in story mode to save time lol.
