So I'm a beginner using Cheat Engine, and I'm seriously stuck on trying to change one value. I've gone through the Tutorial a few times and have done extensive research, but I can't seem to solve the problem I'm stuck on.
Basically, I'm trying to change one simple value in Ghostrunner, the ability cooldown. (and from there I'm assuming I can find out how to change the timeslow uplink cooldown too) However, I find two values, each nearly the same with decimals of difference (they're both 1 when it's full, 0 when it's empty) and when I freeze them, it does quite literally nothing and the value keeps changing. So I thought "what is going on here?" So I went to check what wrote to them and replaced them with NOP (idea from search), however all this did was break all display cooldowns and so I restarted the game and decided to try and look for the non-display value.
So I ran through Unknown Initial Value with Float (also idea from search) and kept doing increasing/decreasing until I was left with 27 results. Freezing all of these values also ended up doing nothing, so I went back to the old two values and tried replacing what wrote to them with [eax]#1 (so it always writes 1 (found from search)) which obviously crashed the game. There used to be a working Ghostrunner Trainer using cheat engine but it's extremely outdated and it doesn't work anymore.
What am I supposed to do at this point? I'm more stuck doing this than actually beating the game. (which I've done twice)

| Not sure if this will help you expand your ideas, but in general with OTHER games, I remember some occasions in the past where a cool down counted up, and others where it counted down. I also remember running into a situation where there's more than one keeping track of it. It might even be something crazy where there's one counting up, and the other counts down at the same time. I also have run into cool downs being 2 or 4 byte values, and other times being floats. Consider all possibilities.

I'm really at a dead end here.
