You might want to try tweaking the settings within your apps if they have a built-in dark mode. For example, many browsers and apps like Microsoft Office have their own dark mode options you can enable. It's not a full system-wide dark mode, but it's a good start.
I have seen approaches using High Contrast Mod (to achieve a dark mode effect), basically Windows + I and select a predefined high contrast theme or create a custom one to suit your needs. This can give you a dark background with light text, similar to dark mode
Another approach that comes to my mind is via regedit:
Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Themes\Personalize.
Modify the values of AppsUseLightTheme and SystemUsesLightTheme to 0 to enable dark mode
