Cheat Engine

I've been trying to run Cheat Engine 7.5 but run into problems every time I try to interact with the application after download. What will happen is I'll download the program to desktop, but when I try to run it I get an error message, followed by the application completely disappearing from my desktop.

The error message shown is "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item"

The application has another strange behaviour where if I right click the application, the windows process completely freezes and reboots. My desktop goes blank and anything file explorer tabs I have open are closed. Note that it doesn't even let me see the right-click menu options, the freeze happens instantly when I right click.
