|
|
I'm running into a situation where all of a sudden out of the blue breakpoints won't work. For example I'll be using them fine for a while, then all of a sudden they just won't trigger, even though it's the same ones from earlier in the same exact instance.
If I shut down Cheat Engine and re open it, all of a sudden they work again (for a while).
What could be causing this and how can I stop the need to shut down cheat engine to regain breakpoint triggering?
EDIT: Another possible clue is that often times when I am setting manual breakpoints or debugging to see what writes something, sometimes I'll get the "max limit" error very fast. For example, only be allowed to set 2 of them before being hit with that limit where it tells me too many are running, even though when I just start up the game and CE I can usually do at least 5 of them at once. It's like they're still existing in the background somewhere or something. Not sure if this is related to the above issue but as soon as I shut down and re open CE it goes back to allowing more. When I go and view the breakpoint list to see if I'm forgetting any, there aren't any extra forgotten ones for me to deactivate.

which CE version?
What debugger interface are you using?
Do you set the breakpoints using CE or using Lua ?
Go to memview->view->breakpoints and check if the previous breakpoints are gone (you can only have 3 to 4 bp's)

1) CE ver 7.5
2) Debugger is set up to use VEH, with preferred BP method being Hardware. I have "when CE starts default behavior for unexpected breakpoints" set to "ignore".
3) Both manual and Lua are getting used and once the failure begins, both will fail when attempted. This tends to happen after I've been doing a lot with breakpoints, so I'll be setting them manually AND using Lua with no issues before the problem eventually begins later in the day (or week).
4) Anytime this has happened, I checked memview>view>BP, and there were not any left to turn off. I check every time, thinking there should be something there that would explain it.
It's worth noting that I am not able to duplicate the issue at will when I tried. I can't find the specific combination or pattern that causes it, but it definitely has been happening to me at least a couple times a week for the last month or two. Before that, I never experienced the problem in years of using CE, so it's a new one for me.
