I made some very artistic hacks for an old rts. They deal with mostly formations and funny things.
But now im starting to worry, what if there's an update?
That will change all the addresses of all the functions?
So my function calls and detours won't work, right?
A friend of mine told me that Area Of Byte can help finding it again. I never worked with Area Of Byte ever, so im clueless.
Please let me how can i auto-update my detours and function calls to new versions?
Or new versions will ruin it all?

Using an array of bytes (signature) can help locate the function in memory. Although, this does not guarantee that you won't have to update it.

So that means its risky to work on recent games right?
Its just one update and all your work its destroyed.
Perhaps i should wait some time for some of the modern games that i wanted to practice with.
Is this the right procedure? Or there is some other way?
Just wait for them to stop updating the games?

just make a table for each version, maybe in the future and in case the game devs made the final updates you could make a sort of universal table for multiple versions, ofc AOB scans are usefull here, but they are not 100% reliable
