How do I cheat?

I've recently been playing quite a few browser games, and when trying to attach cheat engine, can't find addresses through searching, even though I'm pretty sure I have the right process selected. I've switched to chrome for them so I can find processes with shift-esc, since everything I could find for firefox referred to plugin container, and that's not showing up anywhere.

Is there a simple method for using cheat engine on such games? My grasp of it is mostly limited to searching for values.

It should work, provided:
- you selected the correct process
- you are searching for the right value.
