I see that there is a way to do ranged searches using value between.., but is there a way that you can do an or search?

Lua searching takes about 15x times as long, even if you just look for a single value.

Is there a way to speed that up?

next release will have a faster version. There it should take only about 6x as long as a value scan

Try 2 normal scans: between 12 and 14, then not 13.

Custom value types exist and might be what you're looking for, but it's probably not a good solution given the simplistic semantics of most values.
