How do I cheat?

So i downloaded cheat engine, used it in a non steam game etc. Worked fine all good and then my steam started crashing and so the games did. i uninstalled ce and the problem was still there so I formatted my hdd. After that steam worked fine I downloaded all my games but now I downloaded ce again and the same thing happened so I'm sure its ce that's causing the problem. Any advice or solution? thanks in advance

Does not sound like a CE issue, I use it with Steam games without any issues.
