|
|
Hello there, i've been trying to use ultimap 2 feature on ce 7.1 and it says my processor doesnt support the tracing functionality, but doing some research it seems it in fact does.
Any1 has clues on how i can get this working? Also, CE says my system is incompatible with DBVM so i cant use ultimap 1 (BSODs me) |

Make sure you don't use any virtualization security options in windows
and run this lua code
| Code: |
cpuid0=cpuid(0)
cpuid7=cpuid(7,0)
cpuid14=cpuid(0x14,0)
r1=(cpuid7.EBX & (1 << 25))>0
if r1 then
r1='pass'
else
r1='fail'
end
r2=(cpuid14.EBX & 1)>0
if r2 then
r2='pass'
else
r2='fail'
end
print(string.format("cputype: %s%s%s", byteTableToString(dwordToByteTable(cpuid0.EBX)),byteTableToString(dwordToByteTable(cpuid0.EDX)),byteTableToString(dwordToByteTable(cpuid0.ECX)) ))
print(string.format("cpuid7.0.ebx=%x (%s)", cpuid7.EBX, r1))
print(string.format("cpuid14.0.ebx=%x (%s)", cpuid14.EBX, r2))
|
and post the result here _________________

Here is the output
| Code: | cputype: GenuineIntel
cpuid7.0.ebx=9c67ab (fail)
cpuid14.0.ebx=f (pass) |
Btw, which virtualization options are we talking about? As far as i know virtualization is enabled on my system. |

windows has a security feature where it runs everything in a hardware virtual machine(hyper-v and virtualization based security). That blocks dbvm and fakes that the cpu doesn't support certain instructions
your cpu currently states it has no process tracing support, but it has support for process selecting when process tracing is enabled _________________

Both hyper-v and virtualization based security seem to be disabled (the latter is "not configured")
Could you point me out possible configurations i should look into? |

Do you have AVAST anti virus? That one also runs your windows in a virtual machine
Besides that not sure, it is weird that your cpu doesn't support "Intel Processor Trace" but that your cpuid does return information about the capabilities your CPU has when it comes to ITP , so it's very likely you're currently inside a virtual machine (You've taken the blue pill) _________________

My current AV is kaspersky and im somewhat positive it doesnt use this sort of protection.
Are there any testes i could do to try to pinpoint the issue? I couldnt find any other threads with similar problems, people either have old CPUs or early models with poor support but i couldnt find anyone with a modern chip having this sort of issue.
edit: Running systeminfo gives me this disturbing line in the end
| Code: | | Hyper-V Requirements: A hypervisor has been detected. Features required for Hyper-V will not be displayed. |
I'm kinda clueless on whats happening here, what kind of hypervisor this is or whatever. is there any way to detect what is it? |

Perhaps your AV does have a hypervisor installed (Kaspersky does have a security bundle for Hypervisor security, so could be your system uses it)
Alternatively, your computer has been infected with a hypervisor. Perhaps on hardware level like an infected PCI device _________________

I honestly dont know what to say, this is a notebook and the only "custom" parts are the RAM and a SSD. I guess ill have to dig into this now.
Who would've guessed cheat engine actually help me realize such a larger problem on my system lol...
Btw i did have some problems before running applications like bluestacks/virtualbox but i thought it was just some sort of messed up configuration, now i really have reason to believe this might be some sort of virus or whatever. Kaspersky reports that my device doesnt support hardware virtualization btw. Im baffled. |

Most VM's will set the bit that says the CPU supports virtualization to false, as it's difficult to emulate a VM inside a VM
so yeah, looks like you're on a VM _________________

whether its a hypervisor rootkit or a dirty antivirus, it will install itself at boot time (99%), assuming the hypervisor driver is not part of system essential drivers then safe boot + minimal driver loadup + a simple window program that enumerate cpuid features could tell you whether your processor really support virtualization or you will be running in a quest OS and the host OS will fake the cpuid.
its not easy to detect the file causing this, but its possible to locate it after serious digging. _________________
