Recently I've begun encountering a problem where CE sometimes hangs after attaching to (certain?) processes, in VMWare only. I'm using a VM to mess with a game, and I would say it freezes roughly 20-40% of the time when I attach. When it does freeze, the freeze is permanent (I've gone away for like 30 minutes or so and it was still frozen) and I have to kill either CE or the process it's hanging on attaching to. When it doesn't freeze, it works perfectly and I have 0 other bugs.
This is a problem persisting over multiple VMs and multiple recent versions of CE (including the most recent). To clarify, I don't ever freeze when I attach to the same process outside of VMWare. I was wondering if it was a resource problem, but it seems to happen at the same frequency between 2GB and 4GB of RAM VMs.
I suspect it may have to do with symbol lookup, because if I recall correctly I've had it hang on symbol lookup for the same process before (not 100% sure) but I can cancel it and it resumes fine. This is a large game that's protected by Themida which also seems to makes a symbol issue more plausible.
Anyway, I'm wondering if this is a known bug and any advice towards solving it would be appreciated.
Edit: I guess I should mention that this is a Windows 7 x64 VM on VMWare Player 15. |

You can't attach CE to a Virtualisation environment and expect it to work on the game. think of it like this, you're attaching CE to an OS instead of the PROCESS. Besides that, attaching it to VMWare is a bad idea to mess with, complex software shouldn't be modded at all.
if you're running windows in vmware, just install ce there and attach to the process, else use ceserver. |

I am attaching CE, installed in VMWare, to another process in VMWare. (though if CE permanently froze attaching to the VMWare process then that would also be a bug) |
