I’m experiencing a strange problem using cheat engine in DS3.
I have been using the itemgib function under helpers to add items to my inventory. It all went fine for the first 20 or so items I used it. Then, I used it yesterday and went through the same process of pausing the game to get the mouse pointer back in windowed mode, opened the CE table for DS3 and selected the DS3 program, used the itemgib function and afterwards backed out of the pause menu to allow the “items received” function to pop up and immediately afterwards my character used a regular attack for no reason.
Thinking I had hit the LB by accident I went over to an npc to talk and when the menu went away after selecting talk my character did the same thing (killing the fire keeper in the process).
I started playing around with the buttons and realized two things. One is that the LB for light attack has been disabled and does nothing now. The other is that anytime my character exits a menu, whether by backing out with B or by selecting an option that ends a selection of options my character uses a light attack.
I reloaded the character from the game menu and the same thing was still happening. The problem only stopped when I shut down the program completely and restarted it. Then, I used the CE table again and the same problem came back.
The issue disappears when I exit the program. But anytime I use cheat engine for anything the same problem come up until the DS3 program is shut down and restarted. This is particularly perplexing considering that I don’t ever save or load changes to the CE table for DS3 when I use it, nor have I ever used any other function but itemgib. So why other changes keep being introduced is beyond me.
I’m only using item generation now but I would like to explore other options as well. Obviously I can’t do that with this issue cropping up.
Has anyone experienced this before or have any suggestions?
The programs I’m using (other than DS3) are:
Cheat engine 7.0 for windows
And
CE table 1.2.2

Eh. Never mind. I fixed it by uninstalling and reinstalling cheat engine.
The issue did come back once when I closed out of the CE program while the game was still running. Unlike previous events though it didn’t remap the LB.
It seems to never be a problem as long as I’m not in a menu in the game when I use the CE.

Sounds more like an issue with the cheat table writing things incorrectly to the game memory. Potentially over-writing/over-flowing into an action state variable that controls if you are attacking or not, or input buffer if a mouse button is clicked etc.
