|
|
Hi. sorry if i misunderstand something, but here's my scenario.
I used inc / dec to find value in game.
value is EXACTLY "7412.037109"
now my game crashed, but i know the value.
so now i search for EXACT float value "7412.037109" and it finds 0 results.
why? is the float search broken .. or how can i search for EXACT value?
I have chosed "exact value" and "float" and i disabled the "fast scan". i get 0 results, even tho i know the value is there, because if i search it again using inc / dec then i get same results.
explanation / fix would be welcome. thx. |

use less decimal points, maybe 7412.03 and ensure your cheat engine is up to date. _________________

that doesn't really explain anything. i did find the value by changing the rounded and default, but i often get this "bug" and i have no idea why it happens.
i don't want to use less decimal points, it gives too many results. CE should find the EXACT value when it exists in memory. art money works a lot better when it comes to searching specific values, but it's really slow, so i prefer CE. |

yes there is a bug in CEs float search, also the rounding may affect the search. (depends on the game and the floating-point arithmetic functions they used)

and i remember i mentioned this multiple times here, especially old ce versions had multiple float search bugs.
still there is a bug in:
- 6.6
- 6.7
- 6.8 (and 6.8.X)
but this bug cant be triggered easily, once triggered (you will find useless results) a restart is required. _________________

oh well i hope this can be fixed in future. it's not HUGE issue, but it does get in the way. sometimes i can't find stuff cos CE just refuses to find the values even tough they are there |

Set rounded to default when that happens
Also, floats have an accuracy of 7 digits, so at max 7412.037 can be encoded properly, after that it's dependent on the rounding type and on how your cpu is feeling that particular day (kinda)
in case of extended scan there is an input issue
These two values
Code: |
7412.037108
7412.037110
|
are exactly the same as 7412.037109
In float scans with extreme it would normally scan for a value higher than 7412.037108 and smaller than 7412.03710
But since their encoding is exactly the same that will never happen _________________
