Cheat Engine

Hello,
I know, there is "find out what accesses this addres" functionality in Cheat Engine. I believe it attaches debugger to the proccess and sets breakpoint on this memory address, is that correct?

My problem is, when debbuger is attached, I execute event in program which cause program to read that memory address. They program crashes. I guess it's anti-cheat protecion.

I've read about something like "HideThreadFromDebugger" function and i thought, it has to be it. I hooked this function, disabled it, tested it on quickly written test program, it works. Unfortunately, it doesn't work on the program i mentioned before. That program still crashes.

I've also read, that I should change debugger to VEH, but I get this error message: failed determining what "vehdebug-i386.initializeveh" means.
Still no luck.

Can you guys give me any advice what to do, to find instruction, which reads memory address I'm interested in and doesn't cause program crash?

I use Cheat Engine version 6.8.1.
