cheat engine freeze when hit breakpoint

This doesn't happen with all breakpoints. I was backtracing and reached a point where if I set a breakpoint cheat engine freezes, and the game freezes. I tried VEH debugger, kernel mode debugger, freeze interval 500ms, use page exceptions, nothing works. No, the game doesn't have protections. I can't backtrace before a certain point. What do I do? Thanks.

EDIT
This problem doesn't happen with x32dbg, so it's either some configuration setting or a bug in cheat engine. If anyone has skyrim(x32 version aka oldrim), try setting a breakpoint at 005B13F1, then attack a monster, anything. Everything freezes on CE.
