Hi,
I'm trying to find the ammo pointer for Red Faction Guerrilla (gfwl version), I get so close but the problem is this pointer changed each time I upgrade weapon.
The ammo has
offset 2 - [204]
offset 1 - [38]
Address - [00E0978C]
I used "Find out what writes to this address" to find out what write the address 00E0978C, then I found out 00E0978C=00E096F0 (EAX) + 9C.
So I guess each time I upgrade the weapon, the value EAX changed. But the problem is I can't get the EAX. When I search for value 00E096F0 (hex, 4 bytes), I have about ~30 static (green) address, then I switch to the game, then I switch back, all the addresses, which I found, just changed to other value - none stay with value 00E096F0, then I search again for 00E096F0, I got another ~30 static (green) address. I feel that I'm going nowhere. Please give me advice.

not a real advice because finding pointers manually can be real pain in as* (sometimes), but yeah do pointer scan with default settings and you will get your pointer.

[s]Thanks, it is a good advice, memory pointer actually solved my problem.
I just need to pointer scan the ammo address (which is manually found) of save game A, then load other save game B, and re-scan for the ammo address (which is manually found) of save game B. Do that until I got only one address in the pointer list.
Without pointer scanner, I'll never find this pointer, thank man [/s]
Edit: After a while testing, I found out that it doesn't really work. The pointer I found is not the current ammo, but some kinds of "ammo in slot base on weapon", so when I replace weapon in slot, the pointer goes wrong. It seems like the game developer use some technique to hide the pointer of current weapon.
After a lot of manually find pointer (just use "what write/access this pointer"), I found out the pointer for current weapon works like this:
Current Ammo (after rocket upgrade):
[204]
[38]
E096F0+9C
Ammo (after jetpack upgrade)
[204]
[38]
00E09790+9C
Ammo (after thermo rocket upgrade)
[204]
[38]
00E09830+9C
Ammo (after grinder upgrade)
[204]
[38]
00E098D0+9C
The formula is each upgrade +A0
The thermo rocket ammo is:

00E096F0+9C

seems good tho (slot pointer)
anyhow, most games have one instruction writes to current ammo.
so in your case if its true, then you can hook that instruction and get your current ammo without a pointer. (auto assemble script)
