How do I cheat?

I've started up cheat engine and I keep clicking it. It says I am currently switched to the program, but it isn't showing up at all. I hovered over the icon on my task bar and it showed a picture of what the current session of Cheat Engine is supposed to look like but again, it won't show up on my desktop.

Left click the icon, as if you were selecting the window from the taskbar, then hold the windows key and press left a few times.
