This is the first ever install issue I've ever had. I use Win7 x64 and tried my x86 install which I use for a few apps that don't work right in x64.

I did manage to get it installed and running in XP using virtual box. Then extracted the files from the vhd. It says my system doesn't support dbvm
which I don't need any way but that also means that it isn't properly installed. 7.0 however installs just fine, works and says my system supports dbvm.

I noticed in task manager that it has a .tmp file but stops and then crashes. I'm guessing something changed with the installer because I've never had install issues before. Also since said PC has no internet I have no need for any anti virus software. Ideas?

its not clear what you are saying, stopped working on Windows 7 64-bit or on a virtual machine that is running on Windows 7 64-bit.

either ways, i installed CE7.1 on Windows 7 64-bit and i can confirm it works fine and as intended; i also downloaded vmware and i can confirm again it works fine on a virtual Windows XP SP3 32-bit.

as for DBVM, it should not work on a virtual machine only on bare-metal.

Mine did not install, either.
Apparently, an internet connection is required for installation.
I realized this when I wanted to put it on an offline PC.
There is an installer-less package you can use (I'd recommend you remove all old files instead of just overwriting them).

I use Win7 x64 as my main OS and it wouldn't install. I did however get it to install on XP 32bit running on virtual box. The installer stops working on 7 x64.

Im pretty sure I already have the offline installer as I didn't see but one download for Windows. I'll just stick with 7.0 until/if I can ever get it to install.

Also could the 7.0 install be affecting it somehow?

Worked fine for me on Win7 x64. Make sure you do not have an anti-virus, anti-cheat, or similar blocking the install from working.

I download CE using an Android because my PC doesn't have internet ATM, so I have no anti virus programs installed.

Internet connection huh? Sad.

Just about everything relies on it now. One reason to stay away from PS4 and XB1.

Funnily enough it my virtual XP has no internet and it worked.

Not sure. But weird.

Also noticed the option only show processes with an icon was removed or accidentally disabled for this build.

Show processes with an icon was conflicting with the way the processlist gets the icons now.
Before it would get the icon for each process before adding it to the list. But now it doesn't get the icon when fetching the list, only when you look at the process in the processlist it will fetch the icon

I got a bit further in safe mode. I quickly went through the setup and it seemed to be checking something and then crashed.

Seems to be some kind of timing issue.

I had to reinstall Win7 due to some issues, mainly folder permission issues.

So after setting up and reinstalling offline redistributables and runtimes I tried installing CE 7.1 and it still won't install.

I'm not sure what all changed with the installer, but 7.2 installs and works as it should. Much appreciated.
