I've used cheat engine for the basics for a few years now. Just learned about pointers last week and I'm going over all my games to see what else I can fool around with. But while talking to my friend about my choices he reminded me of something i forgot about completely.

I understood the basics of client side and server side code and why you can't use cheat engine on large multiplayer games. But when playing a certain early access MMO me and my friends got tired of it and I didn't care if I got banned so I tried anyway.

In my attempt to get banned I found my health and froze it and like i thought my health didn't change. The surprising part is that for some reason doing this made my character rocket through the sky when getting hit by another player. We quickly used this to get me on top of buildings with no other way up to harass people with arrow fire but that was the extent of it. (never got banned btw)

Anyone have any theories as to what happened there?

TLDR: Froze my health in an MMO and made everything that hit me have super knockback.

With high chances, the knockback you receive is actually calculated client side, unlike other important values.

On cheat engine, freezing your health doesn't make it unchangeable, but instead it keeps setting the HP value to the amount you've choosen, so this might've messed up the algorithm that deals with your knockback (which surely considers your HP lost value as a knockback multiplier)
