Even I can write lyrics like "Astronomy Domine"

Watch:

His public hypocrisy flames the satellite underneath the one capital.
The countryside disappears beside the transcript.
Inside an ingredient ascends a transported sunrise.
Near the poetry clicks the homosexual.
Her prefix fudges.
The lower idiom censors a controller outside the excessive cough.

there were a lot of groups during that time which played the same type of music as pibk floyd which was just as good if not better. but they go unheard. there are a lot of search engines around the time of google gaining popularity that functiomed just as well but google trumped.

You could, but you didn't, and they did.

Also, music back then was big. Bands became big. It's why the older generations have such well known and established music names like Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Johnny Cash, etc.

This was because you used to have to buy cds/records/what-have-you, so you'd only really want to spend the money if you knew you'd be getting something good, so you buy whatever's advertised/whatever is spreading around your friend circles. Pink Floyd was one of these lucky bands, so they became much bigger than they "should" have.

Should being a term I am using to compare PF to musicians today. Today, with streaming services broadcasting millions of artists, to billions of people around the world, there's a ton of options to choose from without spending very much money. Equally, thanks to the internet and several easily accessible music programs, the barrier to making music and getting it "out there" has been lowered, so there is also much, much more to choose from.

Because of this, we'll never have bands as big today as they were back then. There are pop idols or whatever, I don't know who's big right now, but they aren't really close to comparing to what bands could become back then.

meddle is my favourite album. one time i loaded up my nexus 7 tablet with all of my music so i could bring it to my friends' house and listen while we toked up as we tripped together etc.,
when i got there and we went to smoke and play music as we came up, i discovered i had only 1 album for a 12 hour journey.
meddle.
it was played so many times that night. the staple of the trip. thank god it was that album.

Just a bunch of haters. instead of being able to appreciate the music that came from the times, you attack what was popular for unjust and illogical reasons. It's not like they weren't talented or didn't have a message, or that they keep you from listening to other artists from the same time period, you just had to look for it.

Apply your logic to classical music then, you fucking dimwits. Are Beethoven and Mozart overrated? They were talented and they had the audience then and they still have one today.

Talented musicians are the ones who can play live and with real feeling and variation. This excludes just about every single modern DJ, since they just press play and dance around. Good composers, untalented musicians.

Gannok here to explain how something as subjective as appreciating music is actually objective, and that other people are incorrect because they don't have the same opinions.

Mozart is overrated.

You can call them over rated, but that doesn't take away from any of of their achievements or or their ability to play songs (not just their own).

Lemme just slap together some fart sounds and call it good, after all music ability is subjective right? If you fail to see the objectivity in their works then you can't fully understand why they are so popular, they broke new grounds on many fronts. That's objective.

So did Kanye West. Music is subjective, maybe someone does like fart sounds slapped together, maybe that is music to them, and that is still breaking new ground as well. Music is so varied and there's nothing saying what is good and what is bad. You can argue that the classical artists MUST be good, because their works have survived for so long, and they were reknown and broke fronts, etc. Doesn't mean that if I hear it, and I don't particularly like the sound, that I am incorrect for calling it bad. Bad is subjective too.

Kanye West is a music god so as long as people rever him as such. That's the objective truth and reality. The guy is running for president in 2020. No musician has had anywhere near the potential he has to actually be an important figure. He is breaking new grounds and that can be measured objectively. I don't think he has anything truly useful to provide, but that doesn't take away from his status.

There is objectivity to music and musicians, you just have to have a respectable objective approach. If you're subjective about music and your selective music tastes, then then yes it will appear as subjective, but you'd be blind to the matters of what goes on behind the final product. Music is objective, it applies itself in everything, because sound is vibrations, and vibrations can be measured and analyzed without bias, that is objectivity. Certain vibrations produce certain effects. How certain individuals perceive it as subjective, is in itself subjective, like yourself.

Music is one of the most important factors of life and it influences everything. That's the objective nature of music.
