What's so revolutionary about windows 10? Taking back features that were removed like the start menu? 8.1 was much more of an improvement on 7 than 10 will be on 8.1.

with windows 8, metro(modern) apps were introduced poorly because they made a whole separate scope for them, making it a hassle to use them, but with windows 10 you will be able to use those apps in the normal desktop.
What is game changing about metro apps?
Interoperability made right, this is a feature made for developers that will enhance the user experience immensely. Basically it lets you write a framework of communication for your apps so that other apps can access that framework and interact with your existing app.

I am excited about windows 10 but am going to wait for a few weeks for reviews to pour in before I update my comp.
First few days are always a nightmare.

There's already a build out that is considered RTM, and lemme tell you first hand that it's amazing, and most reviewers have nothing but positives for this OS. You may as well upgrade, because you have no idea how much better this OS is in general

My computer is from 2008. It had windows vista installed on it. I upgraded it to Windows 8.1 pro. My only worry is it's ability to handle windows 10.

Windows 10 has an equal or less requirement than all previous windows build, so you're fine. Microsoft is trying to make this be a tablet OS as well, which lacks power in terms of a regular PC. So, if you can somehow run Vista, then you're MORE than adequate to run windows 10

Windows 10 has the exact same system requirements as Windows 8.1. Only thing that is going to be at all different is the HDD space required based on the edition you upgrade to or install.
