I don't know what you mean by patch the apk, how would I do this?

find the apk location on the device
adb pull then use a tool like apktool to decode the apk and then recode it with apktool as well with debuggable enable

then adb install newapk to install the debuggable version (you may qlso have to sign and zipalign the new apk)

it comes with adb.exe which you can use to connect to a non-rooted but debug enabled phone

in the future i'll try to write a more complex guide but for now look into the `pm` tool (package manager) together with adb. it helps list all packages bjt qlso getting the real path to the apk

I've tried patchin the apk with apktools (decode, then build with debug) but android studio refuses to push it to the phone because it doesn't have certificates. The app from OP installed fine by itself but it can't do anything because no root. Did apktool loose certificates or somethin?

Edit: Figured out keytools and installed the apk but it still didn't work. Then found another post about running without rooting and so I need to be actively using abd to launch things for it to work, not just launching the app normally?

aftet signing the apk uninstall the old one and then you can install the new one

no need for root
