Cheat Engine

When I attempt to inject the VEH debugger, I simply get "Debugger failed to attach." How can I get more information or fix this issue? Thanks!

activate speedhack and see if that fails

Well that's working, so I'd suppose DLL injection isn't the issue. Also, it's a game, so it's probably using some sort of anti-debug.

I'm able to inject just fine into other games. After testing in ollydbg, I've found that injecting causes it to crash immediately, as it starts jumping to seemingly random parts of unreadable / unexecutable memory. Oh, and the game is BO 2 Zombies, just taking a look at it for fun.

I'm already using VEH. I can't use DBVM because I'm running Windows 8.1 and it gives me a watchdog timeout every time I attempt to run it.

What are some methods used to prevent injection? I've encountered other methods that crash the program when it detects a debugger, but how can the program actually prevent attachment?

go to the processlist and click on attach debugger to process (do NOT set any breakpoint)
Does that crash as well ?

Yeah, it errors too. I had already tried this after seeing you suggest it in other threads.
