How do I cheat?

When scanning for a value in a game i find 7 hits. I get a 2 byte and 4 byte for one address the same for another and a 2, 4, 8 byte for the last one. They all hold the same value. How does and address have multiple value types? and how do i evaluate what is the correct one? Regards
