I have been playing "The Great Escape" by Gotham that came out around 2004. I have been working CE everyway I can think but cannot find ammo.

I don't have a lot to work with since my ammo starts with 5/5. I search for 5, then shoot once and search for 4, short again and search for 3. After I shoot once more I search for 2, but cheat engine removes all addresses and leaves me blank.

I have also tried with 4byte, 2byte, changed value, decreased value, all, etc. The ammo can be found as I have Trainer 3+ by Pizza (also called pztrain) that I used with XP and it worked great. In Windows 7 though, the Ammo does not work even when I change the "compatibility mode" in an attempt to get the trainer to work as it did in XP.

What am I missing? How should I try another attempt to find the ammo and change the value? Thanks.

How exactly did you do the decrease/whatever search?
Tell us step by step, every click and keypress.

1) Start Game
2) Process List, Great Escape, Open
3) Start playing the game. Pause the game at 5 bullets (display shows 5/10)
4) In CE, type 5 in the Value box, leave at 4bytes, click "First Scan".
5) First Scan brings up over 10,000 results.
6) Un-pause the game, fire one shot. Display shows 4/10.
7) Pause the game and back to CE. Type in 4 as the Value and click "Next Scan". Found 60.
8- Back to the game, fire one shot. Display shows 3/10.
9) Pause the game, go into CE. Type 3 and click "Next Scan". The list of 60 clears and leaves nothing but a blank "Found".

1a) Do the same above but use "2bytes" instead of 4. After searching for 3 shots left, it shows 9 found.
2a) Back to CE and search for 2. Found 1.
3a) Place the address in the bottom of Cheat Engine. Change the value to 5 and lock.
4a) Go back into the game, and the next shot goes to one and then to 0 as the 5 did not take and the lock made no difference.
5a) I right-click the address and select "see what writes to this address" but it never scans.
6a) I right-click the address and select "see what accesses this address" but it never scans.
7a) I go into CE Settings and select "Use VEH" but it never scans.

Hopefully this is enough detail as there isn't much more I can add at this point.

Better always do more than two next scans.

And, "Found: 1" doesn't always mean that you have found correct address.

Run the CE tutorial and do step 2, searching for an unknown address. That'll teach you how to find stuff when the value isn't displayed, or what what's displayed is a lie.
