I'm working on the XYZ coordinates of a game I'm playing however they don't seem to be static on my character.

Let me explain.

Bob = Char 1
Jess = Char 2
Monster 1 = Char 3

So this is how it seems to work (from trial and error)

If Bob is the only person within about say a screens length of the map, he will use pointer A. However, if Jess enters the map, pointer A now affects Jess. And then if Monster 1 enters the map after Jess, pointer A now affects Monster 1.

If you followed through my little scenario, it seems the pointer to my XYZ changes to whoever entered my proximity range last.

Now here is what I can conclude from this.

1. I have the wrong pointer and I've got some dummy pointer that still affects XYZ coordinates
2. I have the right pointer and this will be a proper headfuck to sort out

Any advice/insight/thoughts as to what is going on would be great,
Thanks.

EDIT:

Ah nvm I think I figured it out. Writing out my problem helped me think a bit clearer. I had the wrong pointer as I realised my XYZ address doesn't change. Smile

The pointer seems to point to new things on the map. Ahh darn, need to look harder now Sad

Thought I'd tell people what was wrong

There should be a set of addresses that are exclusive to your hero coordinates. Each character in the game should have a set of their own, exclusive addresses, that control their coordinates. At least, this is the case for every game that I have ever played.

That said, however, there may be only one instruction (or a group of instructions) that writes to and/or accesses all of the coordinate addresses, for every character.

EDIT: That's good to hear.
