When I hex edit a save file, I want to find changes to the file. However, when I open the save file, it is locked by Cheat Engine and thus access to it by other processes is restricted. The game won't load or save the file. And thus I can't find changes to the save file.
I tried making a copy and switch but once it is opened once it becomes locked :/

Have you tried opening another file with ce after doing your scan/edit?

| Use savegame analyzer (by Tobe) for save game files. It doesn't lock the file and allows you to load/save.

It does provide this function. It just isn't perfect atm. And I would like to make a request that would allow searching for changes in files.

I looked online and the link from Tim's Vault is dead. It 's the only place I found such file.

Yes. I created a backup file and keep switching and it 's still locked. The game or whatever application cannot gain access to the file.

I looked through 5 pages on each search and I believe I searched with 3 different strings but nothing showed up and I decided to stop wasting time.

Searching for "savegame analyzer" without quotes should have given you the above result at page 3; page 1 for me, as I have 100 listings shown.
