|
|
So I found the address of the variable I want to control.
I then found the pointer to this address. So far so good.
But after, trying to find what access this pointer, I only go back to the
original address.
If I try to freeze the pointer in CE, it will still be changed automatically.
How come I'm not able to find the second level pointer ?
I did try pointerscan.....but I ended up with too many results even after 6-7 game restart (including reboot). I'm talking about 70 000+. I did some random trials but none of the pointers I froze would keep the value.
any help ?

First thing you should know before bothering with pointers: Make sure that changing the value has an effect in the game, if it doesn't, a pointer will not help you
anyhow, if you use the manual method, when doing the hexadecimal scan part, don't always pick the first entry, sometimes you can pick the second one, or third
Also, don't confuse the Value of an address with an Address
with offset 0. e.g : [EAX]
eax will contain the Value representing the address you did a "Find what accesses on" , and while that might look like a loop, it isn't

Well first, you can pick one of the results from the pointer scan, since they're pretty stable.
Second, you can always assemble or replace with NOPs (this would be what I'd do).
And third, see if you have another operation on the address so you could get some other path to the pointer.
