Scan the EXE file with ProtectionID to check if there is a protector or not. Maybe its a bad crack where the cracker didn't patch the Anti-Debugger code.

i scanned it and it says this, since its on steam i think it has steamworks protection
Code: | [!] Steam api usage detected
[i] additional feature: Valve CEG - Custom Executable Generation
[!] Possible CD/DVD-Key or Serial Check -> SerialNumber |

Well there is your answer then. Thats why I have said the cracker did not remove the protector properly. You can try to use an another crack, or use Olly debugger with an Anti-Debugger plug in and see if it runs. BTW Cheat Engine has an anti-debugger feature too, I cannot find it now but I remember when I was using it.

Try the VEH debugger, or kernel debugger if your system supports it
If it keeps crashing disable the option to override existing breakpoints
Tip: before attaching open memview->view->debug events
This can help you identify threads you shouldn't touch

If the protector is still active on the game I really doubt if you could make a working trainer for it, unless you know what to patch. You need to analyze the code, check which API's are being used and which one are causing the game to crash, so you know where you need to patch stuff. So thats why I said get a proper crack for the game, you should use the SKIDROW version.
