if i want to nuke a hard drive in less than 5second without breaking it, how the hell do i do this?
Dban would take more than 5minute to wipe one hard drive completely
smash it/kill it with fire wouldn't be a good idea destruction of evidence
gigantic magnet?

just give up and zero the drive overnight.
zeroing a modern drive will leave everything completely irrecoverable contrary to popular "ugh you need to do it at least x times" mythos.
or i suppose you could just open it and physically fuck the platter

I mean unless you can make it look like an accident, it's going to point directly to destruction of evidence no matter what. There's no way to destroy or make inaccessible the data on a hard drive in 15 seconds or less unless you physically destroy the drive, which would point to destruction of evidence.
Unless you leave no evidence of destruction.

Who says a smashed HD is evidence? And that it didn't happen before and you were just keeping it? Or that it had anything on it in the first place? Seriously, this sounds like you want to hide whatevers on them when the FBI come crawling through your window, so make up some secret storage in your wall or some shit, buy an extra drive and just put a legal version of an OS on it, in 10 seconds I can pull a drive out, put another one in and probably toss the ones I took out somewhere.
