Are ARMv6 phones too slow for this feature? I've been wanting to try this out, but there's only support for the ARMv7 architecture. I tried setting it up and everything seemed alright except the scanning speed-- it's too slow and when left too long, it eventually disconnects (so I assume it's incompatible).
Is an ARMv6 processor @ 650MHZ just out of the question for CE scanning over a LAN? |

Well, it's recommended that the system supports at least a 1GBit network connection (Faster is prefered...)
But it of course depends on the size of the rom and libraries loaded in the system (less than 1MB is doable on a slow connection like wifi)
Also, I don't have much experience with socket networking so I am probably doing a few things wrong
a few tips: On the client (cheatengine exe) set the cpu affinity to only 1 cpu and change the scan buffer from 512kb to 4KB
That reduces the chunksize and number of threads that make a connection (that it disconnects is normal, each scan thread makes it's own connection and when done with it's part, terminates, and closes the connection) _________________

Hmm, then perhaps it's my wireless network that's unreliable. I'll have to experiment with reverse tethering to see if I can try scanning while wired. Nevertheless, it's fascinating to see that something like this is actually possible on an Android phone-- I never really knew about CE's network feature until recently.
Thanks for the (quick!) reply. |
