Hey, I want to see what windows is doing when my computer starts up. Is there a way to see it live? (Meaning while it's loading all the stuff) Kind of like what DLLs it's loading or what process is starting, what process is running what task on startup, etc.
The reason behind this is that I want to see how long each thing takes to load... Preferably detailed information?
Thanks a lot to all those who take their time to answer my question. _________________
As far as realtime there isn't anything I know of, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
You can have a look in MSCONFIG under StartUp to see what processes are started when Windows boots. These will most likely be extra processes not necessary to proper running of the OS.
As for your other stuff, you can have a look at goto Run or Find type in services.msc click on the services manager. Organize services by Startup type, "Automatic" this will tell you any service Windows loads, and also what services are currently running.
Have a peek in the registry under Run keys for other things that startup when Windows does. You will also need to find things in the registry that are hooking into dll's and running as well but that's a bit more advanced. Someone else may actually have a tool that will tell you all this. _________________
