| It's not like they don't already use it. A lot of kids know to not use their real birth date. I know a ton of 8 to 12 year olds that put up real images of themselves, while setting their age at +30 years.

Well, the data they can collect from a "30 year old guy posting pics of 9 yeared olds" doesn't seem like they can use it for much, since it doesn't seem legit anyway.
And what could possibly happen?
It doubt it changes -anything- on facebook. They're already there. It's like allowing cheaters to join CEF :b

The bigger problem is the tons of stupid Facebook games. Just imagine how clever will they be if they grow up on Farmeville. One more reason to burn Sugar guy alive.

Wont change who uses Facebook already, as others have said. No one ever gives their real age if they are too young to sign up for something or view content on a site. A drop down that uses the 'honor code' does nothing in the world anymore, no one follows it.
At most this will just cause people to alter their profile if they are young to show it, which I'm sure they will all still lie by a few years as that's what most kids do anyway to look cooler in front of their friends.

Also does it matter if more 8 year olds have fb? What stops them from lieing about their age?

This also means that more parents will register their kids on Facebook. It is not forbidden, there is nothing wrong with it and so, why not. Many people who would otherwise not do it will do so now. Not everyone is a professional lier, but now you don't even need to lie. It is not forbidden by your religion, you will not burn in hell for it etc. Those parents will now allow their kids to register or even help them to register if they could not themselves. This is certainly not a good way.

| For minors who lack the experience or judgment to use a social network, this raises the scary potential of sexual predators tracking down kids who reveal their age in an online chat, cyber bullying and more.

Not really. As already stated... it's common sense that there are TONS of underage kids with facebook. This doesn't change anything at all... at all.
All a predator has to do is add an underage relative on facebook, and then go through their friends and add them.
"Cyber bullying" is a fucking joke. Are you serious? Kids can not be this pussy now days. Seriously.
