Assuming they do as much community testing / beta testing / and feedback as they did with Windows 7, this interface definitely wont go live as a mandatory usage thing. The video shows him opening Excel and the original Windows interface shows with that. I'm assuming you already have the ability to use the old interface style over the tiled one.
The tiled one wouldn't be bad on a laptop with touch abilities or a tablet, but on a desktop or normal laptop its just terrible looking.
Kind of disappointed they are turning the desktop into their new phone OS.
If they don't offer an option to use the original desktop look and feel, I wont be upgrading. _________________

Agreed. It's sad that Microsoft is pushing technology in the wrong direction like this. They're screaming "Touch screens, voice activated software, new futuristic looks!". I'm screaming "Mice, keyboards, start menus, god damnit!". |

Microsoft is trying to make an ALL IN ONE OS that caters every fucking device.
I'd still want it. Nothing lost, something gained. _________________

This reminds me far too much of iOS for iPad. I hate the way their going. If Windows 9 ends up like this, I'm buying a Vista/7 disk. _________________

You still get the normal desktop interface with it. :V then just avoid the metro UI.

You know what that reminds me of? A clean room. Whenever I clean my room, it looks really nice. Okay, now I want to do something in my room. Well, crap. I don't know if anyone else has that feeling. |

I would personally love to have this in a tablet/tablet pc. Now if there was some way that it could just suddenly launch multitudes of apps and have Nvidia Tegra Applications/Games.
I would also love it if this was on a machine like the Asus Eee Pad Transformer. <3
If for desktop, eh not much. I'm assuming it's pretty much the same except with the fancy start menu.(metro UI)
Nothing big to complain about. Huge step toward the tablet market. _________________

They're catering to the market, and the market for computers is moving onto smaller and more portable devices. _________________

They made an All in One instead :V . no choice but to deal with it.
I love the fact that you can access a normal desktop if you use it in a tablet though and since it's one OS for everything. Every exe/program you use in your desktop; can probably be used in a tablet.
Something I look forward to. _________________
