|
|
Hey guys!
I Built my first fully custom computer(before I'd just replace parts and whatnot). So everything in it, except for the hard drive is something that I bought separately, looked up compatibility, and assembled it in my house.
The thing is though, I used a windows that was already installed on the hard drive, and just connected it to the MOBO.
Everything works fine and great, for about a month now.
The question is, does it matter or will it affect the system if I do not install a fresh windows on the new mobo, but instead just hook it up to a hard drive that already has one?
Using win 7 64bit
Thanks

Windows itself will assume its on the default hardware the first time you run it on the new stuff. But it should auto-detect (plugin-in-play) all the new hardware and update the registry accordingly. It's not 'bad' per-say to do it but you should reformat just to be sure and to avoid issues later on that might come up.
