Hey, I have Windows Vista 32-bit and whenever I power on, I need a CD so I can log in and everything. I can't do anything without the CD. I get this Error Message on a Black Screen:

"DISK BOOT FAILURE: PLEASE INSERT DISK TO BOOT FROM"

Does anybody know how to fix it?

Check your system BIOS, make sure that it is not trying to boot from CD first. If it is change it. Boot order should be HDD first then CD. Most computers when they try to boot from CD will fail over to the HDD if no valid partition data is found, but in some cases Vista just craps out and never bothers to check the other devices.

I have also had this issue with XP, when I did an install of XP from a flash drive. I had to modify the boot.ini file to point back to the HDD instead of the storage device I installed from. Since Vista though there is no longer a boot.ini file now it's BCD (Boot Configuration Data). http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/hardware/gg463059
There are editors out there that will allow you to modify it, but I'd suggest that as a last resort if all else fails. First try the BIOS fix see if that works. Then move on from there.

Insert your Vista disc and do a repair.

If you do a repair and it still doesn't work check your cables.

I checked my cables, I even opened everything and asked HP(HP.com or whatever) where everything goes. The computer is wired as it's supposed to be, but I just don't know why it always says that!

Edit: Thank you! Didn't read the first comment! Apparently, my boot setup was:

1.) Floppy Disk
2.) Disk CD-Rom
3.) Disabled
4.) Disabled

Now, it's:

1.) HDD Group
2.) Disabled
3.) Disabled
4.) Disabled
