Hi i recently am helping one of my friends fix his word (microsoft office) what happens is when he open's a file it freezes. Other time's it just freezes on loading and is the weirdest thing i have seen If you could help it would be great please post as fast as you can so i can fix it. Thank you

Could be anything from a corrupt DLL, to a corrupt Word file trying to load. Verify Word is set to start with blank document.

First I would try to start Word into it's safe mode and do a clean shutdown of the app.

Its not just word its also excel too.... The safe mode did work but i would like to have a permanent fix

Reintsall Microsoft Office.

Would it get rid of any of his files that use microsoft cause they are very important.

It wouldn't get rid of saved files.
And if they're that important he should have them backed up.

You could try to repair via the CD, but a backup of his documents and a full reinstall (uninstall/install) could be the best option.
