My friend wants to put together a gaming computer for sub $1400.

The $1400 has to include an OS, and he doesn't want to put it together so he's gonna pay NCIX $50 to put it together for him.

CPU - http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115071&cm_re=core_i7_2600-_-19-115-071-_-Product
Mobo - http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131682&cm_re=LGA_1155-_-13-131-682-_-Product
RAM - http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820226095
GPU - http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814162070&cm_re=GTX_570-_-14-162-070-_-Product
HDD - http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152185&cm_re=spinpoints_f3-_-22-152-185-_-Product
Case - http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119196&cm_re=storm_scout-_-11-119-196-_-Product
PSU - http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371044&cm_re=Earthwatts-_-17-371-044-_-Product
Optical Drive - http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827135224&cm_re=DVD_Drive-_-27-135-224-_-Product
OS - http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116754&cm_re=Windows_7-_-32-116-754-_-Product

Total - Around $1309 (+50 to get NCIX to build the rig so like $1359)

What do you guys think? Could I get better performance for lower prices?

And I know I said NCIX, but I'm linking newegg here. NCIX usually overcharges like a bitch, but they have a price matching feature, so I'm just gonna price match newegg or whatever the cheapest retailer is there later.

Read the post. I'm not putting this together for myself, and my friend doesn't feel comfortable building it himself.

Any improvements guys?

Building it yourself would probably be the best improvement, so none here.

You save around 80-82 dollars. With that extra $82 you can go buy your OS.

I was thinking about the CM Storm Scout, but I wasn't sure if it would fit the GTX 570.

And would there be a noticable difference between 1600mhz RAM and 1333mhz RAM?

Good call with the Spinpoint F3, I've heard good things about it.

I'm gonna ask him if he feels good about OCing, if he does I'll keep the K model.

And I already included the OS in the OP.

Thanks for the input.

the Scout and the Sniper are huge, i have no problem fitting a 4890 with the akward 6pin placement, although CM690 II would be better. Alternative, NCIX have the Fractal R3 as exclusive, best case that American will never get, is sexy interior and exterior, sound dampening, huge, and overall, fucking sexy as fuck for the price of $100

it doesn't, unless you run benchmarks all day, ram voltage and timing affects more on overclocking than just speed

Which Fractal R3 case are you speaking of, because there are different versions of it on NCIX.

In the meantime, thread updated, changed the RAM and the case. Still thinking about the HDD, but I'm probably gonna swap that too.

Update again - Swapped the i7 2600K for the 2600, and the Caviar Black 640GB for the Spinpoint f3 1TB since they were the same price.

I would have gone with the 500GB model of it, but the 16MB cache kind of turned me off.
