				| I have an Lenovo thinkpad which I used for school and it's been collecting dust with crapload of school work in HDD.
I want to reformat it, but I lost the windows disc that came with it.
Can I install windows with a different disc and enter the OEM key sticked on the lappy? I have a vista home prem disc from my previous rig and the key is also for vista home prem.

edit: bonus question, can I use the laptop as a dual monitor?

				| As long as the Windows image initially installed is the same type IE if the key if for OEM, and the image you install is OEM, they key should be valid.
Define "dual monitor", if you mean have it use an external monitor, yes. If you mean have it connect to your pc to use as a 2nd monitor, not without some jiggery-pokery.

				| Most notebooks will have a recovery partition therefore you don't need the recovery disc, but if you have not formatted yet, you may have a chance to burn yourself a copy of the recovery disc set. Look into your Lenovo Recovery utilities and see if there is a option, 99% should have that option.

				| If you ran the recovery, you can still create youself a set of them recovery disc because if the drive dies out, you won't even have any recovery partition. _________________
