I'm thinking about doing the science fair using computer science with a friend(doesn't know much programming/helps with GUI). Does anyone know a good thing that will get high value?
I thought about making a mathematical AI but that will be way too much work/too hard(An AI that reads your text/sound and trys to find a logical solution. Exp"When x is 50, what is y using this equation y=0".
ect..
Does anyone have a good idea? I'm currently only in PreCalculus right now so I can't do much advanced mathematical things yet.

I don't see much you can choose from with programming for a science fair. Science fair projects typically revolve around you picking a set idea, creating a hypothesis and either proving it right or wrong through various steps and such. I don't really see what you can pick that would specifically involve programming.
Your best bet will land up being something that could involve programming, but not directly targeting it.
- Overclocking performance / speeds.
- Image burn-in effects on monitors / screen-savers.
Stuff like that, involves computers and the ability to program something to test your hypothesis but isn't directly related.

I did a project on the speed of C++ / Java in like 5 areas. Got 1st grand locally, first + prizes regionally, 1st + high score at states.
Pretty good project, made like 500$ off of it

Just that?? I didn't know programming would win you so much. But I guess most highschool students can't program code more advanced than the AP Comp Sci.
@Wiccaan
I'm now thinking of creating a Mathematical proof program that can find all possible proofs for an equation. Maybe even support for Physics, Programming.
I just want to make my program related to real life things, I don't think anyone will care globally(Programming Colleges) about easy things such as CPU Speed, password strength check, ect..

"Programming" Colleges also don't really care what you can do going INTO the school. Yes you should have strong grades, extracurricular, and past programming experience is nice, but you don't go to school expected to know everything. Because you will be very sad when you get there, then read your code from a year prior and see how embarrassing it actually is.
The purpose of a science fair project is to show use of the scientific method, aka trials, observations, etc. The nice thing about computers is that you can do many trials with relative ease. The reason I did so well is that I had like 100,000 trials for each test. I also automated everything so it would put itself into a spreadsheet format for me and I basically just had to start the tests. If you want to do the type of project you were thinking, make sure you are entering an ENGINEERING fair and not just a science fair; there's a big difference...

lol.
@Homer - I see what you mean. I'm just going to make the proof program for my math class.
