The pointer scanner freezes CE every time I do a scan. There's no CPU activity for CE, but I can't do anything after starting the scan (CE is unresponsive).

I've never seen the pointer scanner working, I have the latest C++ 2008 redistributable (I think it is March 2010).

No .ptr files are created. It happens with or without attaching the debugger, but whenever I terminate CE's process, it always shuts down whatever program CE was scanning.

Using CE 5.6.1 with XP.


EDIT: CE 6 Alpha 17 works, so will be using that version.

Do you have a non-english keyboard and use a tool to convert characters to ascii ? (that is known to cause filenames to be fucked up)

does it really not create any .ptr file ? Do you have write access to the folder where you write the .ptr file to ? (and is there enough room free?)

As for closing the game when you terminate ce, make sure you click on OK, and not on attach to process, the debugger is the ONLY reason why it could do that

also, how big is the target process (you can see that in the taskmanager with the view enabled for memory size)

I have a US English keyboard, don't use software to modify/convert characters.

I'm Admin and CE doesn't create any files (location: Desktop). The disk has GB's of free space.

When I have to terminate CE, it takes down the other program even when I didn't attach the debugger (no confirmation dialog window asking if you want to use/attach debugger to process).

The target process is 425+MB.

CE 6 Alpha 17 works ok, I actually see the text and green bar in the pointer scan window.
