Well, I can tell you one thing, you either better raise that cash to 800 or 1000, and either way, you are going the AMD route.

an old amd x2 and a freaking 9800GT could play wow at a good frame rate and resolution. Probably max settings too. Besides, amd makes a great gaming core.

Try to build something around a Phenom II x4 core, even if its the lower 2.8 core. I have the 925 (2.8ghz) and Im ocing to 3.4. Its damn stable too. Not much heat, I've only seen it get up to 55c at a heavy load.

AMD is trash. Only good for building trash computers lol

AMD > Bad Quality > Failure > $$$ > Another Processor > More $$$

Looks like we have a fanboy on our hands....

Really AMD is not as bad as people make them out to be, either cheap and awesome performance or expensive and still awesome performance.

I have a Phenom II 955 with a gtx 460 768mb card and everything runs great. (1920x1080 on bc2 with all maxed settings never dips below eh 50 FPS)

This from the guy who thinks he needs high powered hardware for a crappy linux os. Get lost fanboy.

AMD cpus are great and they are best bang for buck. If you can afford an I7 thats great, but for a good mid high end pc, amd is how you need to roll. I'll take my phenom over any intel any day. Its not as if you OP is doing high end rendering artsy shit right?

$493.93

-Your budget prevents the selection of a quad core, therefore a triple-core is your best option

-GTX 460 SE running at 256bit rather than those budget GPUs running at 128bit. This card shouldn't let you down when you play WoW.

- Open mid section on the case to ensure large graphic cards won't have fitting issues. The downside, you lose the amount of HDD you can install.

-This setup will stomp the Wii as well as fart on it.

It spits on it too. If he could afford the quad tho, it wouldnt even spit in the direction of the wii. I know mine wont.

Just a question tho. That board, does it have core unlock? If so he may have a quad anyway.

According to the web, the board supports core unlocking. But I won't start recommending everyone to get a dual core and start unlocking. AMD disable cores for a reason not because they're bored and just felt like it.

Yes, but on a tricore its 100% quad, with a core locked for the reason its bad, but sometimes its just a miscalculation or something from amd, so its always worth a shot.
