it's completely hopeless now. The laptop itself is acting weird lately, powering off suddenly, turning on slowly, that kind of shit.
Should I go for the official repair though, or look for a private repair service? I personally would hand it over to SONY repair for 200 bucks (around that) to have them replace the keyboard, but some repair services are as low as 80 bucks (thats keyboard and then I guess an additional price for installation)
Which ones would you go for? Considering the weird issues that are happening with the powering off, I'm wondering if the entire laptop is going to go downhill, so I'm not sure if private services would even help.
Tips, etc.

If you still have warranty on it (doesn't sound like it but still) I'd go to SONY, because else your warranty might expire.
Otherwise I wouldn't know, private is cheaper, but not everybody is tidy with fixing things (ground themselves and stuff). Most likely still go to SONY and try to get the money back through insurance?

The warranty expired because i got the laptop in 2008. It's been two years. Goddamnit.
I'm still undecided. The keyboard isnt really acting up too much to really rush me on this. I'm going to fix the software on my own and then ask around for hardware tips to go from here. If it's a real shithole then I guess shelling out 200 bucks (possibly another 99 for a diagnostic on top of that) will be inevitable. Luckily I prepared for this.

That's the right decision, you better take it to them and have it repaired than risking what's left on your laptop.
