Vista is optically prettier than XP and handles RAM and other resources better in larger amounts than XP
XP Has better compatibility overall regarding software and it's x84 is better than the equivalent of vista(in handling resources) although the x64 of XP is horrible hence vista handles more resources better(even though it eats them up just by running as well).
