Damn, when did AVG get SO good that it could take care of ANYTHING? Seriously, you advertise AVG like you're part of the company.

He needed an anti virus, I gave him one, why is there a problem? And I never said it could take care of anything... and I think it's a really good AV.
EDIT: btw madison did it work?

AVG will not remove extortionware. What he has is that fake Windows Security Alert crap.
If not logged on as Administrator when you got infected.
Create a new user account. Copy your documents over to this account. Delete the old account, takes less than 5 minutes.
If logged in as Administrator when infected.
You will need to find a software to remove it for you if you are not able to remove it yourself.
I can't recommend any, as I remove these manually. I just don't trust software to do it.
AVG will not remove this. I've had it on my daughters computer, solution was to rebuild her account. Doing that was faster than a scan anyway.

I personally use Microsoft Security Essentials and Avast both at the same time even though I know I shouldn't.
MSE uses barely any resources.
