Find out what your motherboard is (run dxdiag), and tell us.

For Ethernet/wifi go to Realtek's website.
For SM Bus, it's the chipset driver.
Fire up CPU-Z and look at the Mainboard tab, it should tell you what chipset you have.

What's the model of your computer? We know it's PB, but a model and specs would go a lot further to getting you running again.

Aren't your PC supposed to have installation CD, at least. If not, download the drivers on the net like:

@SpikeRock
Most new ones I've seen come out, have a partition on the drive for doing reinstalls. I've seen very few these days include an actual OS disk.
Op stated he downgraded from Vista to XP, the drivers op has may not be for XP. Using XP if his drive is SATA I'm surprised he actually got as far as he did without the OS complaining about the SATA drivers and no drive found.

@AhMunRa
No, that's not what I meant. It's drivers disk, not recovery disk, in cases users want to switch OS.
Download what is available on the net instead.
